The John Joseph Brandlin Scholarship Fund distributes up to $250,000 annually to support education for primary care providers.

In recognition of 32 years of service to and management of QueensCare, the John Joseph Brandlin Scholarship Fund distributes $250,000 in support of healthcare education every year. QueensCare awards these funds to assist in curing the continuous shortage of healthcare professionals working in underserved communities.

Among his many contributions, John Joseph Brandlin (1913 – 2010) co-founded with Arthur W. Barron, QueensCare, a charity dedicated to providing free and low-cost healthcare to low-income residents of Los Angeles County in 1998. Mr. Brandlin understood the value of education. As a four-year scholarship recipient himself, he attended the University of Illinois, later the School of Law at the University of Southern California, and subsequently practiced law in Los Angeles for 50 years.

The John Joseph Brandlin Scholarship Fund is limited to students preparing for careers in the healthcare field, from medical assistants to physicians, in disciplines specified by the QueensCare Board of Directors.

  • One (1) four-year scholarship to a student at the University of Illinois, Champaign
  • One-year scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students residing in and attending colleges and universities in California for up to four (4) years
