QueensCare Mobile Dental Program

Eight-year old Jacob Lalin is an active child who first came to our program when his father, Alex Lalin, responded to an email about free dental services available on the White Memorial Hospital campus where he works. While the family had medical insurance through Alex’s employer, but they did not have dental insurance, so he and his wife, Adelaida, made an appointment for the children to be seen.

Prior to entering the QueensCare Mobile Dental Program, a program which has provided much-needed dental services to children in LAUSD for nearly 15 years, Clarissa (age 10), Jacob (age 8), Sophia (age 6) and Nathalia (age 3) had been seen for teeth cleanings, but the high cost of dental procedures like fillings and crowns, which both Clarissa and Jacob needed, were beyond what the family could afford. When they learned that the children would be examined and treated at no charge, they welcomed the opportunity to participate.

“Now that Jacob has had the necessary work done to his teeth, including the crowns he needed, he is very happy,” says Adelaida. “The doctors took wonderful care of Jacob and the entire QueensCare team did an excellent job and always made us feel welcome and important as patients. This program is truly a blessing to the community and our entire family is very grateful to both QueensCare and USC. We hope other families will benefit from this excellent program.”
